YOPE REGISTRATION GUIDELINES The EEECS Placement Team is confident that the overwhelming majority of students will conduct themselves professionally and courteously. Because of the few who may not, we are obliged to ask that you agree to the following: The EEECS Placement Team will make information on placements available to you, and will permit you to represent yourself as a Queen's student seeking a placement on the understanding that: • You will acknowledge all contact with employers. • If you are unable to attend an interview you will contact the employer as far as possible in advance of the interview. • If you are offered a placement position: o A verbal acceptance from you should be considered binding. o You should formally accept or reject the offer within 5 working days of receiving the offer. o Inform the placement team immediately. o Consult with the placement team if you are awaiting the outcome of other interviews. • If you accept a placement offer: o You will contact all employers with whom you have applications outstanding to advise that you are no longer available. o You will advise the placement team immediately of your acceptance. • Once you have accepted a placement offer: o You will not apply for any other placement nor attend for interview/assessment centre. o You will not subsequently decline the placement offer without the consent of the placement team. o You will start the placement at the agreed date. o You will conduct yourself in a professional manner for the duration of the placement. • Arranging own placement: o Students must ask approval of any externally advertised placement prior to accepting it. • Advertised via Careers & YoPE website: o Students must apply for placements advertised on My Future and the YOPE Website. Additionally Students must record their applications to job vacancies. • Self Employment: o Students must: 1. Arrange a meeting with Careers and Placement Adviser or book in via a Doodle link visable in the E-Zine website and in the Weekly E-Zine email, to discuss self employment route. 2. If agreed in principle, a business plan must be completed and submitted for approval (providing evidence of funding). 3. If business plan is approved, then student can commence a self employed placement.
